  • Style Inspiration on a Budget: Christina Milian

    C. Milian Pretty in Pink!

I came across this picture and I LOVE this look. I have no clue what labels she is wearing or how much it costs all I know is that I think she pulls off all of that pink without it looking like its too much. And in case you didn’t know, PINK is one of my FAVORITE colors. I think Christina is giving off a Barbie vibe without it looking too teenie bopperish, well done Christina!

So looking at her look, I decided to put together an online look that I would purchase in order to come close to this look.

    The Deets:

Crop top – American Apparel – $22.00 (this color featured is Mossy Green)

    Jeans – dELiAs – $14.99

    Dangling Crescent Necklace – Forever 21 – $6.80

The reason why I added a necklace to this look is because, Christina has pretty embellishments on her shirt. the AA shirt comes super plain. If your are handy with a needle and thread or even some hardware and a glue gun, get to work and create a shirt similar to hers. But if your a little pressed for time and maybe a bit lazy (lol) opt for a bib necklace to jazz this look up.

Hope you enjoy my take on this. Tell me how you would do this or change it up.

    Stay beautiful!

  • All I want for Christmas is… [Beauty wish list]

Ok, Ok, Ok, I know it has been over a month since I blogged but it has been for good reason. I have been EXTREMELY busy with life, business, and the pursuit of happiness lol. There are so many things that I have wanted to buy for myself lately, but this is the season of giving and if you happen to be in the giving mood, here is my Christmas list…which I may update up until 12/25/11!

Full Cuticle Mongolian Kinky Curl Machine Weft from ONYC Hair

I know this hair is expensive, but I WANT THIS HAIR!!! Its the only weave that I have found so far, that matches my texture and it is human hair so that I can straighten it and wear it natural to make my natural hair appear longer and to keep it protected in the winter months. I would like to get 2 packs of the 18in 3C-4A curl which according to the website will cost $379.98

    Hair Steamer from Huetiful

One of my friends has this and when I used it to deep condition my hair….MAAAAAAAN it was like my conditioner worked a million times better. My hair was so full of moisture, it was just so hydrated and shiny and my hair felt and looked so healthy. Bottom line, priced at $114 I want this!

Nail Polish in “Sugar Daddy” from Essie

This polish, this color in particular is one of my all time favorites and I happen to be running low on this and I need a repleishment. lol This color makes the perfect base for american and french manicures and it also looks great alone. At $8 a bottle, its okay if you want to buy me more than one! 😀

Paris Amour from Bath and Body Works

This particular scent for Bath and body works smells soooo pretty. I only have the shower gel pictured here but I would like the whole set, puhweeze!

    Flower Hair Clips

For those of you that know me, know that one of my signatures is a flower in my ‘fro. I’ve been searching for some really unique flowers and I have found a lot of good ones online, especially on Etsy. there are some really creative people on there! I’d prefer the flowers not be from the hair store as I have already raided their supply lol but if you have something truly unique let me know. I’d love to have it in my collection!

The Pink Glitterati from Violent Lips

I’ve wanted to try this out for the longest but for some reason, I haven’t gone through with it… I think its because I know I couldn’t get away with wearing it on an everyday basis or even a special occasion, unless it was for a photoshoot or an event where I knew I would have to show up and show out! If there are any photographers who would be interested in doing a beauty shoot with me wearing the any pattern from the Violent Lips, let me know, I know of a great MUA who can bring together a gorgeous extreme look to work with this. Just comment this post or shoot me an email and lets get to work!

Thats about all I can think of. The fashion wish list should be up next. What beauty items would you like to get for Christmas, I might add them to my next list, let me know!

Taken from Beyonce’s Sweet Dreams Remix on Lil Wayne’s No Ceilings Mixtape, Nicki clearly knows where the money is coming in and could care less about what people has to say about it:
“I am the kung fu panda,
f-ck all o’ ya blogs, f-ck all o’ ya propaganda,
good for the goose then its good for the gander,
nicki aint a rappa, nicki is a branda…”

Get your money Nicki – and I LOVE these colors!

  • AleanElston.com Goes PINK for October

October is host to a lot of different things:

National Dental Hygiene Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, National Book Month, and a whole HEAP of other things. (this link lists them all – http://www.brownielocks.com/october.html) But there are 2 MAIN reasons why AleanElston.com went pink this month and they are:

My Birthday is in October and PINK is my favorite color 😀

    and

    It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Last year I made it a point to add BCA facts every weekday during the month to get people educated about the facts concerning breast cancer. Being that I feel like I’m doing waaay more lately than I was doing last year, I figure I would display a few facts here and add more facts on my facebook and twitter as my time permits. Check out a few facts below.

    Breast Cancer Awareness Facts:

    • No causal connection has been found between drinking caffeine and getting breast cancer; in fact, some research suggests that caffeine may
actually lower your risk. So far it’s inconclusive whether breast soreness may be linked to caffeine.
    • Hair straighteners/relaxers DO NOT cause breast cancer in African-American women. A large 2007 study funded by the National Cancer Institute found no increase in breast cancer risk due to the use of hair straighteners or relaxers. Study participants included African-American women who had used straighteners seven or more times a year for 20 years or longer.
    • Myth: Living near power lines can cause breast cancer. Reality: A 2003 study aimed at explaining what appeared to be a high incidence of breast cancer in certain counties on Long Island, N.Y., found no link between the disease and electromagnetic fields emitted by power lines. An earlier study conducted in the Seattle area yielded a similar conclusion. Research into potential environmental risk factors is ongoing.
    • MYTH: Breast implants can raise your cancer risk. REALITY: Women with breast implants are at no greater risk of getting breast cancer,
according to research. Standard mammograms don’t always work as well on these women, however, so additional X-rays are sometimes needed to more fully examine breast tissue.
    • Ladies, Do you do regular self breast exams? Dont know how to, how often, or when to do it? Check out this video:http://www.5min.com/Video/Self-Breast-Exam-119380343
    • Excluding cancers of the skin, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women.
    • White women have a higher incidence of breast cancer than African American women beginning at age 45. In contrast, African American women have a higher incidence rate before age 45 and are more likely to die from breast cancer at every age.
    • The most significant risk factors for breast cancer are gender (being a woman) and age (growing older).
    • Weight can increase breast cancer risk. Obesity is a factor considered when determining a breast cancer risk.
    • Out of every one hundred cases of breast cancer, one will occur in a man.
    • Cigarette smoking is a risk factor with an uncertain, controversial, or unproven effect on breast cancer risk, but, smoking does contribute to saggy boobs. Smoking breaks down your skin’s elastin making you a “saggy smoker”
    • Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in women between the ages of 15 and 54, and the second cause
of cancer death in women 55 to 74.
    • Women in their 20s and 30s should have a clinical breast exam (CBE) as part of a periodic (regular) health exam by a health professional, preferably every 3 years. After age 40, women should have a breast exam by a health professional every year.
    • Ninety-six percent of women who find and treat breast cancer early will be cancer-free after five years.
    • You are never too young to develop breast cancer! Breast Self-Exam should begin by the age of twenty.

So that’s why the site is pink for October. If you have any events going on concerning Breast Cancer Awareness please let me know, if available, i might attend or Blog about it. Leave me a comment with the details or email them to me directly at alean@aleanelston.com
